The Masterbuilt is a great cooking box but it doesn’t smoke
well. Most of the smoke you see is from burning drippings or
steam.

Here is the easy way to make your Masterbuilt
into a great smoker with controllable smoke.
Another benefit of attaching the SmokePistol to your smoker is that your smoker
will become a cold smoker as well as a hot smoker.
The first step is to get your SmokePistol and the mounting kit for the Masterbuilt
. First remove the wood chip cylinder from the side and the
wood chip pan from inside the smoker.

You can throw these parts away or put them in the garage until your wife throws them away this will happen.
There are 4 Phillips head screws holding in the heating element
cover in place. These need to be removed for just a
minute.

Note the position of this because you will have to replace it. Lift and remove
the cover exposing the large hole in the side of the Masterbuilt
smoker. Insert the SmokePistol hole panel into this large hole
and align the 2 holes in a horizontal direction.

Now replace the heating element cover, insert and tighten the 4 Phillips head screws.
Before tightening, check the outside of the smoker to make sure
that the two mounting holes are horizontal and toward the bottom. On the outside of the Masterbuilt smoker you will now mount the SmokePistol L shaped mounting bracket.

With 2 sheet metal screws attach the L shaped
mounting bracket to the hole cover and check to make sure it is
level.

If it is not level just loosen the 2 Phillips head screws inside the Masterbuilt smoker wall slightly and rotate the L bracket to a level position before tightening the screws. Now set your SmokePistol on the L bracket and your Masterbuilt smoker is ready for smoking food the right way.
